Flood is a yearly experience for people of Assam. Every year a great loss occurs to the people be it life or property. The situation is aggravated by lack of pre-flood preparedness. Also post flood relief measures are often limited due to insufficient funds. Floods are natural phenomenon that can’t be stopped; hence preparedness and post flood damage mitigation are of utmost importance in the ground. Earthful Foundation has been actively involved in flood relief activities for last few years under Project “Xokaah”.

We distributed reusable kits with basic essentials as pre-flood preparedness measure to few flood prone villages of Assam. The emergency kits we distributed comprise of drinking water, eatables, candles, mosquito repellents, medicines and other essentials to keep them aware and ready before the arrival of the flood.

During floods, we work at the forefront to provide them with their basic necessities. The
Flood relief kit we distributed comprise of Eatables like- Rice, daal, salt, cooking oil, biscuit, etc. and essentials like- candle, soap, mosquito repellent, etc. The team distributed food and other essentials after a need based assessment at the relief camp. The team took proper
precautions in maintaining social distancing, wearing protective equipment and sanitization.
